Dear colleagues and friends,
I’m happy and honoured to invite you to Milan for the 13th International Symposium on Biological monitoring (ISBM13) in occupational and environmental health, from 9th to 12th September 2025.
The congress venue is the headquarter of the University of Milan, a historical building right in the city center. It is a location recognized for its beauty, its accessibility and its vicinity to the most relevant attractions of the city.
We are organizing interesting scientific sessions, with the most updated contents for analytical chemistry applied to biological monitoring, new biomarkers, novelties for biological limit values, major ongoing studies at EU and international level, and exciting findings about the integration of biomonitoring in the omics.
Besides that, we will have the chance to meet and discuss personally about our common interests, enforce established connections, initiate new collaborations, share our projects.
The Scientific Committee on Occupational Toxicology of ICOH, supported by other Scientific Committees of ICOH, will be part of the organization.
Milan was the cradle of the modern occupational health, with the first occupational health clinic of the world, opened in 1910. Within this clinic, a first laboratory of chemistry, dedicated to investigate the interactions between toxicants and human being, was set. The present laboratory of Toxicology is the heir of this first lab.
Milan is a very lively city, with many interesting things to do and places to enjoy: it is a historical city, with many artistic locations to visit, like the Duomo and the Sforzesco Castle, it is the capital of fashion, with very elegant (and expensive) shopping areas, it hosts the famous Teatro alla Scala, for classic music and opera lovers, but it is also an exciting modern city with new districts to live, like City Life, Corso Como, and Isola. Last but not least, Milan offers the good Italian food and drink, that we would like you to taste also in our get together party and social dinner.
In the surrounding region, different attractions can be reached within 0,5 – 2 h train journey, such as the lakes Como, Garda, and Maggiore, the cities of Bergamo, Verona, Venice, Torino and Mantua, Liguria seaside, the Alps, and several others.
In conclusion, I do hope you will take the chance to participate and give your contribution to make this congress an interesting and unforgettable experience. I can ensure that the organization committee will do its best!
Best regards and see you in Milan in 2025,
